Manhole Boxes

Manhole boxes are designed to offer a quicker and easier method of supporting a four-sided excavation, such as the construction of a manhole chamber, rather than using trench sheets and hydraulic manhole brace frames.

Manhole Trench Box

The 2.5m and 3m Light Duty Manhole Boxes are designed specifically for use with smaller excavators that have a limited lifting capacity and can be utilised in excavations up to 3 metres deep, as can the 2m Standard Manhole Box.

The Standard Manhole Boxes (with the exception of the 2m Manhole Box) are designed for use with larger excavators and can be utilised in excavations up to 5.4m deep.

Our manhole boxes come in a range of sizes and weights as shown in the tables below.

2m Manhole Box

Pro-Shore’s User Guide aims to provide all the necessary information required to allow for safe, effective and well-informed use of Pro-Shore’s 2m Square Manhole Box. The guide will cover aspects of practical handling, assembly, installation and systems of best practice. Aspects of the guide will assume general competence within the field, however item specifics such as design components and lifting points for safe slinging will be comprehensively described.

The Manhole Box’s overall aim is to provide an engineered Shoring solution for works that are being undertaken using small excavators, which do not have the lifting capacity to work with heavier trench box systems.

Operatives must ensure that guidance is followed for safe slinging. Although general competence is assumed, Operatives should ensure that the length and selected width of the box is sufficient for the intended works and should be aware that Pro-Shore’s Manhole Boxes are not suitable for use in water bearing soils or excavations containing frequent services. Pro-Shore’s Manhole Boxes should only be used under the aforementioned circumstance and is not recommended for any other operative purpose.
