Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Yard Worker to join our team in the Leeds depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials, assisting with shipping and receiving, and ensuring the smooth operation of yard activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills within a dynamic yard environment, supporting efficient logistics and operations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, ensuring safety and accuracy
• Operate forklift trucks in compliance with safety protocols
• Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including documentation and inventory checks
• Handle materials efficiently, ensuring proper storage and organisation within the yard
• Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance as needed to ensure operational readiness
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency
• Support office with updates for accurate stock control
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets

Skills

• Valid forklift licence or certification
• Previous experience, particularly in shipping & receiving operations
• Ability to load & unload heavy items safely using appropriate techniques
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within a similar setting
• Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and prolonged standing periods
• Good organisational skills to maintain a tidy work environment
